• WordPress/plugins sometimes read avatars as text/ascii; displaying a bunch of gibberish instead of the picture. Reloading fixes it.

How/why can that happen? What should I fix?

I think this happens mostly with avatars that were uploaded outside of regular WP scripts, so I probably did something wrong somewhere.

Can you show us a webpage with the issue?

No, because it is not every time and it also often happens in the admin area users list.

I am hoping that someone recognizes the issue, knows what can cause a jpg to get displayed at text.

Where it happens is probably less relevant.
