• I auto-upgraded this morning (after a backup thank god) and I had *extremely* customized the default theme. The upgrade overwrote my default theme. That is a bad thing.

I realize now after I go through and restore my 500MB+ backup that I’m going to change the theme to something other than default, but geez, how about warning a guy?

  • Yes the upgrade does overwrite the wp-content/themes/default folder and its contents. You just need to restore that folder from your backup.

And congratulations on having a backup!!!

for those who were not so wise, and didn’t make a back-up of edited default theme files… any suggestions?

For these ones, take it as a training not to do such things.

Yes it overwrites the default theme, if you want to customize your theme you should give it its own name and directory.
