On both of my sites (the other is spreadsheetsforbusiness.com) I frequently see the yellow banner at the top of the post editor stating that “There is an autosave of this post that is more recent than the version below.”

When I click on “View the autosave” I always see this: https://investsomemoney.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/autosave-noindex.jpg

This, to me, reads as though I have previously noindexed (checked the box) these posts and then unchecked the box but neglected to Update. Or maybe vice versa.

I haven’t noindexed a post/page that I can remember. I certainly don’t do it as often as these “There is an autosave…” notices pop up. Finally, I can unequivocally say that I have never noindexed the /calculate-dividends/ post referenced in the link.

At best, this is an annoyance. At worst, it is tanking my SEO.

After searching, I’ve never seen anyone else have this issue.

    Any insight is appreciated.

It could be your theme or a plugin doing something wonky. As long as no page is actually published in a manner you don’t want, does it matter much what weirdness is autosaved? I agree that it’s annoying though. Unless you know of a way to reliably induce the behavior, it’ll be difficult to narrow down the culprit by selectively deactivating plugins and switching themes.

I really don’t think WP core is doing this. I’ve never observed it nor have I heard of other forum members reporting it. Further evidenced by your search efforts being futile.

Both sites do use the same theme and many of the same plugins. No, I don’t know of any actions on my part that can reliably replicate the error. It seems to happen at random. I will try switching themes/deactivating plugins and see if it still happens.
