Autosave revisions: recover & increase
-
OMG, what’s up with the autosaves? Are there really only 2, and no history? And they delete/replace every few minutes? And if you choose the wrong one the other is gone forever? What kind of thin protection is that?
I was working away, and my browser crashed. Upon page reload 2 hours of work was gone, including painstakingly drafted text. I went to revisions and there’s only two. One appears to have the text I was scared got deleted, but the restore button was greyed out there. The other looked about the same, but it’s late and I didn’t look carefully. It took me back even further. Ouch. I went back to revisions and now that one and a blank one are all I see!
Is there any way, including difficult technical means, to recover the lost work?
How can I get a good system of autosaves that saves frequently at the intervals I set, and retains a deep revision history?
I’ve looked around, and I find it astonishing that I can’t even find a popular plugin that does this, while I would imagine it should be a default option in WordPress.
Thanks
