    Hi,
I have tried Autoptimize in the past and had varying results.

I decided to give it another try to see if I could improve my GTMetrix results.
    I’m already sitting at 94% & 76% but I thought I’d give it a go.

    With Autoptimize enabled I get 99% & 87%.
Fantastic results. I then looked at the page details.
Page size reduced slightly from 1.17Mb to 1.15Mb
Requests dropped from 49 to 32.

    So far so good.
the number that jumped out to me though was Fully Loaded Time.
this went from 2 seconds to 4.3 seconds.
To me this isn’t a good thing as I tend to visit another site if it’s taking too long to load.

Is this expected behaviour? Am I being too greedy in wanting everything faster?

I’d be grateful for any input

    Thanks

    Kenny

fully loaded is irrelevant really, as that includes time spent fetching resources when the page is visually complete already.

first paint/ start render and onLoad time are more relevant. if you use webpagetest.org you’ll also see “last painted hero” and “speed index” (explanation here) which give a better idea of what your visitor see.

    hope this clarifies,

    Hi Frank,
Thanks for the prompt and informative reply.
I had my suspicions that fully load time wasn’t critical.
I used webpagetest.org and the only thing that fails is the first byte time which gets an F.
I know that’s not caused by Autopimize but probably our provider.

    Thanks for your help

OK, maybe try installing a page caching plugin (WP Super Cache or KeyCDN Cache Enabler or …)?
