Hey Kevin; does this also occur if CDN is off for those sites?

Ah you’re right, it works without the CDN. What can be done? Thanks!

Not sure .. Did you also add the CDN in the AO settings?

Yes – I will check with the hosting and see if they can help. Keep you posted!

So I reached out to Kinsta but they were unable to help: they said their CDN is fully compatible with Autoptimize on multisite.

They suggested some plugins might be creating an issue but I couldn’t identify anything. I’m also using Perfmatters but there’s no overlap in the set-up and when I deactivated it the problem was still there.

OK, so what happens if you define a CDN on Kinsta level, but leave that setting in Autoptimize not filled in?

I don’t have this option with Kinsta I think, it’s enabled by default. Do you mean Perfmatters? I tried setting up the CDN there and leaving it empty in Autoptimize but it didn’t work.

Also, I tried again deactivating Perfmatters and the result was the same.

Ah, but if CDN is always active at Kinsta and you say it works when CDN is disabled, then you “disabled in AO”? In that case, as Kinsta likely does CDN at a later point, can’t you leave CDN disable in AO for Kinsta to apply it at it’s own time?

    Thread Starter kevinlg

    (@kevinlg)

Ah yes, the CDN can be disabled on Kinsta’s side indeed. When I disable it, Autoptimize works fine.

If Kinsta CDN is on and I leave the CDN field empty in AO then optimization doesn’t work on any site.

If Kinsta CDN is on and I fill in the CDN Url in the CDN field in AO, then optimization works on the main site but not the subsite.

In their tutorial they instruct to fill in the CDN url in AO: https://kinsta.com/blog/autoptimize-settings/

And are you using the network-wide Autoptimize settings screen, or are you configuring for each site separately?

    Thread Starter kevinlg

    (@kevinlg)

I’m using the network-wide AO settings screen. But I have tried the alternative (site-specific configuration) with the CDN field filled in and it didn’t solve the issue.

I *think* the reason is that AO is confuses about the site URL being /en/ but the CSS/JS resources not having that. To confirm we might need to add some debug code in classes/autoptimizeBase.php (in the getpath() method), are you up for that?

    Sure thing!
