Autoptimize and WP Engine

It does work on WP Engine, but it might be the theme (maybe in combination with WPE). If you can provide me with a zip-file of the theme (futtta at gmail dot com) I run a small test to see if it works outside of WPE?

Might also be interesting to test it with another theme on your staging instance?

OK, did a quick test and it works but is pretty slow, mainly because there is a truly huge amount of js in there, both inline and external.

Maybe the info in this thread about Autoptimize+WP Engine can help out (esp. the use of the cleanerpress plugin).

This can work with the right amount of tweaking, but I feel/ fear this theme is not a good start for a performance-optimized site really.
