Autoposting no longer permitted?
-
It would appear that Facebook have changed their policies and what we hope to do using this app is no longer permitted.
We wanted to have posts by our members on our web site automatically added to our public Facebook page.
Facebook now say this is only possible if each of our users have a login for Facebook and log into Facebook as part of posting the message on our site.
Anything else they say is “Autoposting” which is no longer allowed.
Are you aware of this?To quote some of their support agent’s discussion with me:
The permission you are applying for requires that there is a Facebook Login button when the user is posting from your app, otherwise this use case will not be valid as it will be regarded as autoposting.
Autoposting is no longer available when a user is using your app. The only available version is when you post to your own page and there are no other users involved. However even in that instance the reviewers need to identify the Facebook integration.

Yes.
When you authorize your own Facebook app(ie, Application Selection * Own App which requires app submission and Facebook review)or SMAPsolution.com’s App ( Application Selection * SMAPsolution.com’s App-our approved app),it will redirect to Facebook login and then you should grant the permission to app for publishing to Facebook pages , if the Facebook user allow this then only the plugin will be able to auto post to the selected Facebook pages.

Hope this helps.
Thank you.I am sorry but I am still not clear as to the process and access rights.
Is it possible for a member of our club’s web site’s forum to create a post on our site which is then copied to our club’s facebook page if that individual member does not have their own personal Facebook login?
If the App is logging into Facebook to copy the post what is it logging in as: the individual member’s personal Facebook account, the Facebook page admin users account, or something else?
Thank you.
If you are the admin of the Facebook page to which you want to auto post the WordPress posts, then you should Authorize the app first.
For this if you are using your own app then it should be submitted for app review as mentioned here https://help.xyzscripts.com/docs/social-media-auto-publish/faq/how-can-i-create-facebook-application/#appreview.
If your app has permissions already(to publish to pages the plugin require permissions pages_read_engagement and pages_manage_posts)then enter the app details to settings page of the plugin and set the redirect url as mentioned in the settings page at your app settings then save the settings and click on the authorize button. This will redirect to authorization flow ,then allow the app to publish to your pages using the app. After successful authorization it will redirect to plugins settings page, from there select the page to which you want to auto post.
Once the authorization is completed you can use the app for publishing your wordpress posts to the selected facebook page.
Whenever a new post is created at your site it will be automatically published to your Facebook page.
If your app is not approved then you can use the smapsolutions app(https://help.xyzscripts.com/docs/social-media-auto-publish/faq/how-can-i-use-the-alternate-solution-for-publishing-posts-to-facebook/) ,it is a hosted solution thus require payment but 1 month free trial is available so you can use it until the app review is completed, which usually takes few days to a month.

hope this helps.
Thank you.I was hoping to use the App you provide free and get it approved by Facebook. Indeed earlier this year they did approve it and then withdrew that.
Anyway, they will not approve the App you provide free unless the process I present shows a login to Facebook; and I cannot see how to add this.
As my first post said, their agent said “The permission you are applying for requires that there is a Facebook Login button when the user is posting from your app, otherwise this use case will not be valid as it will be regarded as autoposting.”Has anyone managed to get the App approved recently as I suspect this is a policy change from Facebook.

Yes,there are lots of user using their own approved app.The smapsolution’s app we provided as a hosting solution is also approved app of Facebook.

After the review you have to complete the business or individual verification by submitting the document they required.
I will suggest you to resubmit this app.Anyway, they will not approve the App you provide free unless the process I present shows a login to Facebook; and I cannot see how to add this.
The plugin is actually redirect to Facebook login flow when the Authorize/Re-authorize button in the plugin settings is clicked.
The Facebook Login button they referring is actually this Facebook Login flow where they show Continue as “Facebook username” as shown in the screenshots at

https://help.xyzscripts.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/5_fb.pngIf this is not showing when you authorize it means the app is already connected and the authorization credentials are already stored to plugin settings.
In that case ,if you want to take screencast then you can remove app from your Facebook apps at https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=business_tools ,so that the Facebook permission to connect the app will be appear on clicking the reauthorize button.
Sample screencast is provided at https://youtu.be/EuA8BTzW-B0
Thank You.I don’t think this app is ever going to be approved. It appears maybe the app will only work using the paid method.
I have tried multiple times to get the app approved via FB.
On each occassion I supplied every bit of information I could – I gave them admin access, created a test FB user, created screencast and every thing required.
Each time they reject it citing the reasons as:
(1) Developer Policy 1.9 – Build a Quality Product
We were not able to approve your app because your submitted permission(s) are not clear or invalid for use. Please refer to the permission decision for more details.(2) Developer Policy 1.9 – Build a Quality Product
During testing, we were not able to verify the use case outlined in your notes and screencast when we logged into your app. To resolve this issue, please consider the following recommendations to help with this issue:
1. Check that your app is fully developed and has correctly integrated the requested permission before resubmitting for review.
2. Provide correct test credentials to access your app in a test environment/development mode. Development mode allows your app to access permissions with limited test data for complete review.
3. If your app is in live mode, you must create a test app for your live app to create an App Review submission.
4. Provide a valid test URL in your submission notes. This will enable us to access the testing environment of your app.(3) Developer Policy 1.9 – Build a Quality Product

There are users who are using their own app.
But individual verification is temporarily unavailable now, only business verification can be done. You can contact our support desk ,if you want us to submit the app for the review process except the business verification.
There are permission changes in the V7 version of Facebook graph api.
please check the updated document at https://help.xyzscripts.com/docs/social-media-auto-publish/faq/how-can-i-create-facebook-application/Hi
I already have a business verified in Facebook for many other apps.
Facebook basically keep telling me it’s not possible to verify this app because they don’t have any clear reason / justification for the permissions needed.
(1) Developer Policy 1.9 – Build a Quality Product
We were not able to approve your app because your submitted permission(s) are not clear or invalid for use. Please refer to the permission decision for more details.—
Do you have more information on the specific permissions and what is being sent and received?
pages_read_engagement and pages_manage_posts are the required permissions for publish to a Facebook page. If any of your approved app has these permission then you can use it for
WP2Social Auto Publish.
The older permission was publish_pages and manage_pages, if your app has this permission then it will be migrated to pages_read_engagement and pages_manage_posts.
You need only these 2 permissions for WP2Social auto publish.
Please remove the other permissions and check the entered steps, screencast and notes submitted for review of your app.
Check the documentation at https://help.xyzscripts.com/docs/social-media-auto-publish/faq/how-can-i-create-facebook-application/ and sample screencast provided with it.
Hope this helps. All good – I finally got it working now… had to set up a lot of test stuff for FB testers to be able to log in… Maybe you can update your documentation to say you need to set it all up in test environment first ??
