Do I understand correctly that once a visitor clicks the anchor image, when the popup window opens the video should start playing without the visitor having to click again? Mine isn’t. Please advise.

Hi, can you share the shortcode you are currently using?

    Thank you.

Hi, first your double quotes are incorrect. They should look like this “”. Also did you enable the following option Autoplay in the plugins settings? I enabled Autoplay in the plugins settings and carried out a test using the following shortcode. This worked for me. You can also see how the double quotes appear in the shortcode below.

    [video_lightbox_youtube video_id="u3fUIrKxGDI&rel=0" width="640" height="480" anchor="https://my-own-image.jpg" description="optional description text test"]

Let me know how you go.

    Kind regards.

Regarding the double quotes, the quote code that appears after .jpg happened when pasting it here but is normal looking in the site. That said, I’ll double check them all. When you ask, “did I enable Autoplay in the plugins settings?” On the Video Lightbox > prettyPhoto settings page the second autoplay setting that says, “Automatically start videos: true / false [default: true] leads me to believe that the checkbox should be unchecked since the default is true. Is that correct? Or are you talking about a different setting?

The check box needs to be active for the autoplay function to work. If it is not checked then the autoplay function will not work.

    Kind regards.

Thank you. Such a simple setting. It now autoplays. When viewing on a cell phone it does not start playing automatically, instead it shows a poster frame from the youtube channel that I don’t want to show, but worse it is cropped off on the left and right to a square shape and it looks very strange. Words are cut off on the left and part of a person’s face cut off on the right. How can I make this look like it does on desktop? If it can’t play automatically, that’s fine but I don’t want a strangely cropped poster image. Did I miss a setting somewhere?

To be clear (only on mobile) the poster image I described (sides cropped to a strange square), shows at the beginning before clicking to make the video play. When the video is finished using rel=0 works on desktop but on mobile I see a video being presented by a competing different author talking about the same topic. That is not good. I still need help.

    Hi,

Please check the following support thread below. Let me know if this helps you.

When the video is finished using rel=0 works on desktop but on mobile I see a video being presented by a competing different author talking about the same topic.?

Alternatively, you can use rel=false at the end of the video URL to turn off the the related videos. Try this instead, let me know how you go.

    Kind regards.

I’ll read the info at the link, thank you.

When I changed rel=0 to rel=false it stopped working on desktop so I didn’t even look at mobile. I tried ?rel=false and &rel=false. Only &rel=0 works for me testing in Chrome on desktop. I’m using width=”900″ height=”500″ and notice that viewing source I see &rel=0&width=900&height=500

I’m not exactly sure which part of the support thread you are suggesting applies to my issue. Something in the usage instructions.pdf like using iframe code instead or are you suggesting editing the prettyPhoto.js?

    thank you.

or are you suggesting editing the prettyPhoto.js?

Yes, try editing the file prettyPhoto.js as per the instructions above. Let me know if this helps you.

In regards to your other issue, what mobile devices have you tried so far? Do you have any other plugin that might interfere with the video playing?

    Kind regards.

Issue #1: regarding initial thumbnail, If I edit the file .PrettyPhoto.js won’t it be overwritten in future updates to the plugin? If possible, I’d love a css class selector I could use to override the setting that is making the thumbnail a square instead of rectangle (the height is ok but width is too small) and the video plays too small and has lots of extra room on the sides on my cell phone.

Issue #2: regarding &rel=0 not working on mobile, I am testing mobile on an iPhone 10 Pro Max. Also, when viewing in developer mode 425px width to simulate a cell phone in Google Chrome, I also see that a other videos besides my client’s channel videos are playing. The main reason I want to use your plugin is for this setting to prevent other videos from being presented. What should I try to resolve this?

I have deactivated another video plugin I was also tested as well as deactivated my hosts caching plugin and manually cleared all server and browser caches. I tried every css selector I could find and none of them let me control the width of the thumbnail or video on mobile even by adding !important. Help.

Can you share the URL with the video? I would like to check using my mobile phone.

I’m so sorry to report that I lost this client and I have deleted their development site. I might still use your plugin in the future so maybe you can share a link to one using this feature that you know works so that I can double check at my end. Then I’ll know I can use it and I’ll report back what I see.

Sorry to hear that you lost your client.

In regards to providing a link to a site or page that uses this option, unfortunately I don’t know of one at present. I will mark this thread as resolved. If you plan on using our plugin in the future and need any help, please start a new support thread.

    Kind regards.
