AutomatorWP Action “Call a function” doesn’t seem to work

I tried the AutomatorWP Action Call a Function, but doesn’t seem to work – no Function found or recognised; does this not mean a PHP Function e.g. as defined in a Code Snippet? That would allow custom Actions, greatly increasing the scope and flexibility … I would expect this also to allow passing parameters to the Function
