Automatic/default title/description meta tag population

    How do I set SEO ultimate so that the title and description meta tags are automatically populated with a default option?

    Under ‘Meta Descriptions’ Post Description Format is {excerpt}, which I assumed would populate with the first X number of words from the post text.

    However, for the pages and posts the title and descriptions are blank.

    Insert {excerpt::autogen} variable in the “Post Description Format” box of the Meta Descriptions Editor page under the “SEO” menu.

    And that will auto populate Meta Descriptions based on page content.

    What about the keywords?

    Keywords are no longer used for ranking purposes in Google (they have been deprecated for years now) and we also do not have an autogen feature for keywords. The keyword option / feature is silenced but you can enable in modules if you still want to add keywords to posts for internal purposes however.

    Just saying, it’s not going to help your SEO in Google (even though Yahoo and Bing may still use them).

    Yeah I know it wouldn’t help with Google. But even beyond yahoo and bing while only a very small portion of the pie there are thousands upon thousands that do use them. They may make a small portion of the pie chart, but word of mouth goes a very long way. I believe in using all possible avenues. But if this doesn’t do the keywords at all, I’ll keep looking.     Once again, the keyword module is there, but, no, no auto insertion for that feature.

    Once I have added {excerpt::autogen}, will that only apply to new posts?

    Is there a way to run it on existing posts?

    I have just added a new post as a text but even that still have the meta tags blank.

    Do I only need to add the{excerpt::autogen}to Post Description Format or should I apply to another field/s?
