Automaticaly repost a post by date

I have a labor history blog that has a daily “This Day in Labor History” post. In the past, I have just duplicated post each year, but that has made a mess (and screws up SEO) I have someone helping me clean up, but I need help in figuring out how to do this, stay sane and keep my post down to 366 posts. Here is what I need:

I will have 365 or 66 posts, one for each day. I need a way to bring the daily post to the front page each day. This way I am not creating a new post and screwing things up like now. I hope this explains what I’m looking for. I would even be willing to pay for a custom plugin or something (cron job maybe) to do this. I don’t need it right away. The site is having some fixes right now. I would be looking for something in March or April. I’m hoping there is something I’ve just not seen yet.
