• This may be a silly question, but how do you get Postie to automatically process the mail/posting? I’ve got it all setup and working, but have to login and hit “Run Postie” button. I’ve got wp-cron and wp-cron-mail installed, and it happens to work fine with the default WP Mail Post feature. (Which doesn’t work when Postie is setup and configured – it sees and grabs the mail, but unable to post it.) But doesn’t trigger Postie.

So, is there a postie config? Should I tweak cron-mail?? Or, are posts by email always supposed to be manually processed? (Which kind of defeats the whole purpose of post by email functionality, IMO)?

I wanna simply send an email and have it appear on my blog. (I know there’s a lot of stuff behind the scenes, but it should be that simple ??

WP-Cron doesn’t have anything to work with Postie. If you want to use Postie without a real cron job or other timed event, you need to use the Cronless Postie plugin, I think.

But frankly, I think setting up a cron job is easier.

I’ve noticed Cronless Postie doesn’t work. I’m trying to get it to work. I do not know how to set up a cron job. I don’t know where to start with a cron job. I don’t have Cpanel it seems, I need help BADLY.

HI. Still having trouble. Would like someone to read this.

My problem is simular except that Postie recommends you run WP-Cron. It worked wonderfully at first, then it made my system overload. I had to change some code that someone wrote for it to make WP-CRON activate postie’s get_mail.php. After that my site started to go extremely slow the more I posted and then I got suspended from my account. I got it reactivated and I have no idea what to do besides get rid of the WP-Cron.

But now of course, Postie does not run. I don’t know how to change the times on the wp-cron. I don’t know how to do any of that. if ANYONE can help me I would REALLY appreciate it.

You could try something like this:
    https://www.webcron.org

set up a task to load
    your_installation_path/wp-content/plugins/postie/get_mail.php
    and set the frequency

(you can’t do it more often than hourly, but it’s free and easy) ??
