Hello, is there a way to automatically cancel on hold orders if status unchanged in 72 hours? I’m connecting my store to Quickbooks Online and when an order is paid it will change from ‘on hold’ to ‘processing’ status. For orders where payment isn’t received within 72 hours I want it to be automatically cancelled, notify the customer and put the stock back into circulation. Is there an add-on or a way to do this?

  • Hi,

I understand you would like to cancel orders that are on hold, after 72 hours if the payment is not clear/confirmed.

An alternative solution, you can check the inventory settings, look for the setting called Hold Stock (minutes) You can tell WooCommerce for how long you can hod a product if it is unpaid, after that period the pending order is cancelled.

You can check this web article that discusses the same idea using custom code: Woocommerce auto cancel On-Hold after X days.

    I hope this helps.

Hi Igor, thank you but as far as I know the Hold Stock function only refers to orders that are paid immediately (eg: credit card), not BACS payments. I specifically want this for BACS payments. I had a look at the link – I wouldn’t be able to code this and it looks like this solution is 5 years old. Other than getting a developer to custom code this function or create a plugin, is there no other way to set this for BACS orders?

    Hi,

I understand your point, please note that according to our support policies, we are unable to provide support for customizations I’d suggest getting in touch with a web developer or one of the vetted experts listed at https://woocommerce.com/customizations/.

They can help you to adapt the code according to your needs.

Also, in this web article there is another work-around, please check: Woocommerce auto cancel order after X days, I understand this is not exactly what you would like to do, but it looks like a good starting point.

    Hope this helps.
