Is there a way to automatically add a link on a recipe archive page to any articles in which that recipe appears as a roundup item?

    Something like

This recipe appears in the article “Best Chicken Recipes”

No, I’m afraid we do not have that feature at the moment. The roundup block/shortcode is only stored inside the post content so there is no easy way to find all posts using that (except for going through them all).

Then what is the entry in the changes for version 2.1.0:

    * Feature: Tool to automatically find parent posts

Or is that only used for the admin view?

How is the relationship between the posts and the recipes stored in the database? I’m thinking to have our developers write some code to add to a recipe template page to display this.

The parent post of a recipe is the post that includes the recipe shortcode/block itself. So the main recipe page. There is always only 1 of them and it’s stored as post meta to the recipe.

So when you click on a roundup item, it takes you to the parent post.

I think I wasn’t really clear here about what we are looking for.

We are not primarily a recipe site, and most of our posts that do feature recipes are on a particular topic such as the best diet for lactating mothers and include one or more recipes related to that topic. Hence, they do not already have their own separate pages.

I’ve changed the settings though so that “Recipe Existence” is set to public. We are going to change all our recipe blocks now to roundup blocks, which according to my testing, with the settings set to public, points to a new page with the recipe on it. What we would like to happen is if possible, automatically display a link on this automatically generated recipe page that points back to the page where that recipe is featured with a recipe roundup block, in case we get people coming to the website landing directly on these recipe pages.

Yes, I got that. But we do not have a way to link back to posts/pages that contain a roundup block.

The roundup block/shortcode is only stored inside the post content so there is no easy way to find all posts using that (except for going through them all).

Thanks for the information on how this work, both in your comments above and the plugin documentation. Our development team was able to add this functionality to our template.
