Automatic username with spaces dont work

Dear Mr/Mrs,

I am experiencing an error when a new user is created since the automatic-generated email leaves an space between surname1 and surname2.
In Spain we use two lastnames and the automatic username generated by the email is as follows:
[name].[lastname1] [lastname2]

Nonetheless, in the system/Moodle the username created is as follows:
[name].[lastname1][lastname2]

Therefore, the users have issues when logging in since in the email the username has an extra space.
Any idea how to solve this?
