Automatic upgrade via SSH2 fails

Hi!

I am running a WordPress 3.1 blog with Varnish in front of it. After version 3.1 automatic upgrades have stopped working, that includes for plugins.

When going via Varnish all i get is “Guru meditation error”. When running outside Varnish the upgrade “spinner” just spins, nothing happens. When i give up the blog has gone into maintanence mode and i have to delete the .maintance file from the web root.

Tips/help? ??
