Do you have any other service or plugin that would affect automatic updates?

Great question, I just double checked, and no, there are no other plugins/services that I see that could do this. We used to use Easy Updates Manager, but deactivated it prior to activation of Security Firewall. Also, since the email said that it came from Security Firewall, it seems like a good indicator that was the plug-in that did the updates.

The security plugin sends the email, but it doesn’t mean it’s responsible for turning on theme updates. We hook into that process flow.

It’s like when the same plugin sends an email when an Administrator logs in. We didn’t log in as the admin, we just sent an email to say it happened.

Good point. Well what we’ve done is reverted our theme, and turned OFF auto-updates. We’ll let it sit for 24 hours and see if by any other ‘magic’ the theme gets updated. If it doesn’t, then we’ll turn auto-updates back on (making sure Themes is NOT selected), and see what happens. Cheers

To be honest, I haven’t heard of this ever happening and the code for this is unchanged for well over 1 year. Perhaps the theme itself has an auto-update system?

Well, I like to hear its old code (greater likelihood of being reliable). To my knowledge, the theme doesn’t have an auto-update (at least empirically, its never done an update until yesterday). The theme in question is Dazzling. We’re running version 1.51 of it, and yesterday is when it updated to 2.0.1. I’ll keep an eye on this, and we’ll see what happens with auto-updates turned off.
