• We have used a different Stripe payment plugin for a few years without any issues. This plugin for some unknown reason appears to have automatically refunded 4 orders through Stripe totalling about $1,000 without our authorization. Can’t seem to find any reason why this would have happened. Have now uninstalled the plugin.

    Update:

Attempted to give the plugin another try now that it has been 3 years since posting my review. Unfortunately, we encountered an issue during testing: payment methods are not being attached to customers in Stripe, even though this functionality works by default with other Stripe plugins we use.

We reached out to support today to clarify if there is a filter to enable this for failed orders. We were specifically interested in understanding whether there’s an equivalent to the wc_stripe_force_save_payment_method filter, which attaches payment methods on successful orders. Instead of addressing the issue, the developer responded by referencing our previous review and stated that no assistance would be provided unless we removed this review.

This unprofessional approach to customer service reaffirms why we stopped using Payment Plugins for Stripe. This unprofessional behavior raises serious concerns about the overall development and handling of such a critical plugin. If the developer is willing to openly dismiss valid concerns on a public support forum—especially regarding financial losses caused by their plugin—it begs the question: what other lapses or oversights might exist in the handling of sensitive payment information?

For those searching for solutions or encountering similar issues with payment methods not attaching to customers in Stripe, you can view our new support request here: Support Request: Payment Methods Not Attached in Stripe. Unfortunately, this simple issue was denied support because we refused to remove this honest review.

I felt it was necessary to share this experience as an addition to my original review.

    Hi @workingout,

That is not a glitch. The plugin be default refunds orders when they are cancelled. You could easily change this behavior by removing the filter. The next release coming out later today will include an option to enable/disable that behavior.

Instead of writing a bad review it would have been nice if you had created a support request and we could have helped you out.

I’m sorry for the negative review, but we are out about $1,000 for a feature that we were not aware of and apparently also cannot turn off without hard coding the removal of a filter?

I am assuming a support request would not have lead to a reimbursement of the lost revenue.

    Hi @workingout,

You can always create a new order and send it to your customer or if the payment method is saved then you can just process the order using the Pay for Order functionality in the plugin. So it’s not impossible to recover those funds.

The plugin has been designed that way since its release two years ago and we have gotten nothing but good feedback so the assumption was that merchants wanted a refund to process if the order was cancelled. But based on a few functionality requests we have gotten recently we decided to make that a setting in the next release coming out shortly.

We offer this plugin for free and it would just be cool if people would contact us fist to understand why the plugin is designed a certain way instead of leaving a bad review. Just stings a bit when you put a lot into something and you get negative feedback.

As usual, nearly impossible to get in touch with a customer that was refunded accidentally after already receiving their order.

Just curious, do you have any idea why our Woocommerce would have set these orders to “cancelled” suddenly in the first place?

Can you provide some instruction on how to attempt the “Pay for Order” functionality you mentioned on Woocommerce?

This plugin seems to add the orders as a “Guest” within the Stripe dashboard, so manually billing from with the Stripe dashboard is unfortunately not possible. This is possible with the other plugins we have used though. Is there a setting we missed to have this plugin function the same?

Let us know and we will see if we can get this worked out from within Woocommerce directly. Thanks
