Automatic product Variations

    Hello users!

    (this is my first entry so I hope I have done everything according to the rules ?? )

    We are currently thinking about migrating to WordPress and WooCommerce (now we are using Contao and Isotope). We sell products made for babies (https://www.zirbelkind.at) and as an extra service let the user decide which fabric they want to have their products made of.

    This worked fine in Isotope, but we are struggling implementing this feature in WooCommerce.

    Because if I create an Attribute called fabric, add this to a Product and create Variations everything is fine. But the stock of these fabrics is changing frequently. Therefore, every time I add a fabric, I would have to go into every single product to create new variations. Isn’t there a way to let this happen automatically? Because going through all the various products every time sucks.

    you can setup a “fabric” selection set, either as radio buttons or as a drop-down. In the “rules” section of the field settings, set the radio buttons to appear for all products in that particular category. If you change a fabric, you need do it in only one place.

    There are other add-on type plugins you can check out.

    Unfortunately there would be no stock control with this method.

    Most of the add-on type plugins only allow text labels for your radio buttons. This one will allow radio buttons with images, so good for allowing users to select a fabric:

    WC Field Factory and WooCommerce Extra Product Options are both very good options

    With both you can create a Fabric set and assign it to multiple products instead of editing each product individually – then whenever you edit that set (for example adding or removing a fabric), all the products will automatically use the updated fabrics.

    We were using Field Factory but have since bought Extra Product Options but I think both would do what you need.

    This all depends on stock control needs though. If you need to control stock at a variation level (mixtures of attributes), then there is no other way than to create variations and use the inventory fields.
