• Hey, i was wondering if some type of email notification could be put into the WordPress system.
Users would put their email address on the page, then whenever the site is updated, they will recieve an email notification that there is new content on that particular site..
The admin should be able to customize the notification message to suit their site.
    Thanks!

  • This idea has a lot of potential and it’s on my list for a future version.

    Also see this other thread.
I’d also like to have a facility for IM notifications. I have my current blog set up to send me a jabber message whenever a new comment is posted, with a link to the post. I’m hoping that eventually we can come up with a generic framework for notifications for new posts and comments that will allow us to plug-in new notifiers easily.

    Thats also a great idea!

It would also be nice to have a “digest” option where it will only send out one email a day. Maybe configurable both by the administrator and the person who types their email in?

Isn’t this exactly what RSS is for?

Yes, but many people still prefer email for many things.

Many people still prefer tables for layout too, but we don’t encourage that kind of behavior now do we? ??
