Thanks you so much for a great plugin!

I have a question about several redirects that have been getting created over the months. They are not valid URLs that we’ve added and are not sure where they are coming from. For example the following are redirects that were created (not by staff or anyone with access):

/word/gtNfd/グッチ is being redirected to the homepage (/)

    /word/hbnGu/ (same as above)

    /word/DmLYb/ (same as the first)

    /word/T4B14/グッチ (same as the first)

All of these are being added but they all are redirecting to the homepage. Which is fine but I’m trying to get to the bottom of why and how they are getting added.

The redirects are either created by someone (intentionally or not), or you have the URL monitoring option enabled and these are posts that have had their URL changed.

You can try disabling the monitoring option from the options page.

    Thanks for your quick reply!

I’m on the options page under URL > URL MONITOR: and there are no settings that are checked.

So none of these have been checked:
Monitor changes to posts Monitor changes to pages Monitor changes to landing pages Monitor changes to my templates Monitor changes to events Monitor changes to venues Monitor changes to sermons Monitor changes to post template Monitor changes to archive template Monitor changes to posts Monitor changes to posts Monitor changes to posts Monitor changes to forms Monitor changes to trash

Ok, then someone on your site is creating the redirects. The plugin does not keep a log so you will need to find another way to track who is creating them.

From the log for one of the redirects:

    March 20, 20238:21 pm
    /word/zCQaU/グッチ
    Redirect/RedirectionMozilla/5.0 (compatible; MJ12bot/v1.4.8; https://mj12bot.com/)

Are these actual redirects that appear in your redirect list, or are you referring to entries in the 404 log?

Thanks. Yes, this is from the log but also a redirect:
I found that information in the log and then searched “/word/zCQaU/グッチ” in the redirects and the following came up as the only one in the list:

    URL: /word/zCQaU/グッチ/
    MATCH TYPE: URL only
    ACTION TYPE: Redirect to URL
    CODE: 301
    GROUP: Redirections
    WordPress
    POS: 129
    HITS: 122
    LAST ACCESS: March 20, 2023

No one on our end is creating these. The Japanese characters and the path with “word” in it are not something we are creating so I’m trying to get to the bottom of it.

    Thanks for your time!

No one on our end is creating these.

No on else has access so it is someone or something on your site. You will need to figure out who or what that is. If you have the monitoring options disabled then it is outside of Redirection and you’ll have to use whatever other information you have available.

    Thanks, John! I’ll keep searching.
