    Hi @karlemilnikka and @jehnlemole ,

With the latest release (2.16.1), we’ve implemented a script that automatically deletes all ast-block-templates_data entries from the database after the update. However, if you are still seeing these entries in your database, you can safely delete them manually. You can search your database for any options starting with ast-block-templates_data and ast-block-templates-spectra-common-styles and remove them.

Additionally, regarding the ast-block-templates-spectra-common-styles entry, in the previous release, we’ve stopped storing this data in the database. Instead, we’re now generating a JSON file and storing it in the uploads folder. If you’re still seeing this option in your database, it’s likely an old entry, and you can safely delete it manually.

    Instructions to Remove Autoloaded Data:

    • Update the latest version of Spectra (2.16.1): On updating to this version, the autoloaded ast-block-templates_data options should be automatically cleared out. If you have previously uninstalled Spectra, then just install the latest version of Spectra.
    • Manual deletion (if needed): If the entries are still present after the update, you can manually remove any options in the database starting with ast-block-templates_data and ast-block-templates-spectra-common-styles.

If you encounter any difficulties with the cleanup or have further questions, please feel free to reach out, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

    Best regards,

Thanks for the follow-up, @abhijitnage. I deleted the post manually. Do you know if the Astra theme will remove its huge autoloaded settings row as well? It is currently over 400 kB in size.

    Hi @karlemilnikka ,

Regarding the Astra theme’s autoloaded settings row, I want to assure you that we are currently evaluating this issue.

Our team is reviewing the autoloaded options and assessing how we can optimize it further. We’ll keep you updated on our progress, and once we have a clear resolution, we’ll provide further guidance.

In the meantime, if you have any other questions or need additional assistance with Spectra, feel free to reach out.

    Best regards,

    Abhijit Nage

This “solution” appears to have made things worse.

Having previously deleted Spectra, our options table showed 477 records and 4mb.

After re-installing Spectra, our options table increased in size to 485 records and is still at 4mb.

Upon re-deleting Spectra, our options table is at 484 records and is still at 4mb.

How is this an improvement? Spectra has in fact left MORE gunk on our database than before we followed your advice.

@jehnlemole The Spectra update didn’t make a difference for us either, but I could remove the affected row without issue.

Thanks for the reply @abhijitnage. We’re solving it by just removing Spectra from our sites. We had our doubts before, but since you decided not to ship the promised, marketed, and sold Global Block Styles feature, there’s no reason for us to keep Spectra on any site.

Supporting what @karlemilnikka says above and adding:

Sorry please explain why you need access to our “specific situation”?

Lots of folks in all kinds of situations need a fix that removes your gunk from our sites.

I have manually deleted not just the ast-block files, but also literal dozens of uagb files still malingering in there (and autoloading). How/why they were still there is a mystery only you can solve, but fixing it on our site is not going to help the rest of the people who loaded your products in good faith and now want them gone (for whatever reason).

If you don’t know what is going on in the aftermath of people attempting to use your products, it’s a problem far bigger than our “situation”. It is also unclear what you will see looking at our site, from which we have manually deleted the bulk of the files you put in there. What exactly are you looking for? Without more details we simply don’t trust you by now.

Why can you not provide a fix that actually works so we can all use it (preferably one that doesn’t force us backwards into repeating work we’ve already done to try to clean up)?
