  • Hello @lestexas60
    Thanks for your query,

Unfortunately, this type of feature is unavailable in WPUF.

    Thanks & regards,

Other people from your support have said this is possible using the Meta Key field and linking it to the right meta key. They even referred me to a video that shows the process but the process doesn’t work. It might even work if I could put the correct values in another plugin like Post Expirator. I have seen the global delete process based on set days, months or years but that is to generic.

    I appreciate your effort but:
I just looked at your profile and saw you are not support, you are another user. It’s not a good idea to say something can’t be done if you don’t know how to do it.

Yes, WPUF support post-expiration in two different way.

You can take the date field on the form, use the post-expiration meta key on that field. So, users when submitting the post can also choose post-expiration.

You, as the site admin can control the post-expiration from the form settings. Like, when the post will be expired.

    Hello @lestexas60
    Thanks for your reply back,

I’m regretting about my last reply. Even I completely agree with you that it was a direct generic answer which was not so informative & helpful.

Somehow I thought though this is unavailable then I should directly answer on that point. But which you advice I’m admitting that I should give you more elaborate & advisable information about the query. Thanks again for your advice and reply, I hope this will be helpful for me on-wards.

    Additional Info:
Though you already know about the Post Expirator plugin. So I did some additional research on this particular plugin to find a way to use this with the WPUF form. I found this plugin is
    1. Generate the shortcode [postexpirator] on the post backend. So I tried to use this as a shortcode method with our WPUF post form by using the “Shortcode” field but the output was not as expected. It’s not showing the meta-box option on the frontend (Though I was quite sure that this function will not work-out on the frontend like this).
    2. It also has an associated meta_key as “postexpirator_shortcode” but it’s also not working with the WPUF field(date/time) if I’m going to implement that.
So what I’m guessing now is: Though Post Expirator has a custom meta-box with an additional sanitize/checkbox option like (once you will enable/checked the Post Expiration then it will reveal the input field to choose for the operation) that’s why it won’t work with the WPUF fields like that way.

In this case, I think if there is any way around which I left or unable to discover that will be any ACTION_HOOK which can make the job done.

So in this scenario, you can contact the “Post Expirator” support to find any lead about that. I hope they will help you out if there’s any way out.

P.S: Please note the fields(Date/Time, Action_Hook, Shortcode) which I just pointing-out above all of those are not available in the free version so as you know according to the WordPress Support Policy I’ll be unauthorized to discuss further those fields in the channel.

Thanks again for your advice on me. Also, I hope the above information will be helpful to you.
    Cheers!

MM, thank you for the additional help. I did try to set the third party Expirator plugin setting using WPUF but the date format seems to be an issue. I have not been able to exactly match the format even though I have populated the Meta Key. There is a solution to this, I just need to keep looking. I even tried to set the WPUF deletion to 90 days and then overwrite it with the form but that didn’t work.

MM, I am experimenting with this on a friends website. If I can get it working I will get WPUF Pro for a number of my other sites so people can easily update their sites from a PC or a phone but the Posts need to have a Auto Expiration function. I understand you can’t discuss pro features but can you direct me to somewhere where this can be discussed? Thank you for any assistance. I love this plugin, I just need this one critical feature.

    Hello @lestexas60

You can contact weDevs support from here, if you may have any Pro related query.

Recap: As you already found the option “Delete” the post after a certain period is not available with the WPUF whether it’s as Subscription pack base or a single post base. So I think you need custom development to achieve such capabilities in that particular Post Status option. Cause for the both cases it(WPUF) has the post status “Delete” is missing.

    Thanks again ??
