Autocomplete in Relevanssi

  • I would need to add autocomplete functionality to the Relevanssi search.
    I installed the Relevanssi Live Ajax Search plugin but the client asked me that the autocomplete function should return me not the results but the valid search keywords.
    I have configured Relevanssi to search only on post tags. So, when a user types the search word, the system should return the tags of the posts next to the searched word. Is there anything similar already done?

    No, as far as I can tell there’s nothing ready-made, so you’d need to build your own. You can dig for potential search terms from the wp_relevanssi database table and find matching words in the term column.

    WPML adds an extra wrinkle; the Relevanssi table has no language information but has the post ID in the doc column. So, when you’re doing searches in Italian, you need to look in the wp_relevanssi table where doc is among the post IDs of the Italian posts and so on.
