• Hi,

Since few day’s I am facing an issue that when I copy an article with text and images to WordPress, it will automatically upload all the images in the media library.

Anyone facing the same issue or is there an option to enable this?

I haven’t installed new plugins recently, so this is not the problem.

  • Which editor do you use in WordPress where you insert the content with images? And how do you insert them there?

I copied from a Word document and just paste in ”New post” in WordPress. Have been doing this for few years. But since two days suddenly this issue happens.

Also sometimes the images in the Word document will be not in the same order after pasting in WP.

Sorry, misunderstood you. I am using Gutenberg.

I’m sorry, but if you copy content from an MS Word document (or any other offline source), the images will ALWAYS be uploaded to your WordPress media library.

Think about it this way: the images have to reside somewhere for them to be visible on your website. And that can’t be your computer where you copied the content from: it’s got to go online, and that means your WordPress media library.

This has always been… and will always be the case (by default).

The only exception is if the images in the MS Word document themselves were inserted from some online source and not added from your computer.

    Thank you for your response.

This is really strange. It totally makes sense how you explain it. But I worked like this for 2 years now. I have a blogger who writes the content in Word and add the images. Somehow the images he add in the Word document the quality are lower than the original version. That’s why I need to add every single image manually in WP.

Then the format of Word or the Word file you are using may have changed. The Block Editor can only paste what was on the clipboard and MS Word does a lot of “special” things.

It’s not the Word format changed. I tested it with an older Word document. Last week when I copy/pasted the content in WP, it didn’t auto-upload the images. Now it does with the same document.

My ”problem” is suddenly solved. Now when I copy from a Word document, the images won’t auto-upload to the media library like before.

Now when I copy from a Word document, the images won’t auto-upload to the media library like before.

What happens to the images then? Are they ignored and removed from the copied text? Or do they still appear in the editor (and in the published post)… yet not uploaded to the media library?

    Curious.

The images are visible in the editor but not uploaded in the library. So when publish this post, the images will not appear. This is how I used to it and want it ??
