Auto Upgrade Overwrites Default Theme Without Backup
-
I’ve been a wordpress user for the last few years and have always been a fan. But today when I logged into a blog I made for someone, I saw that I could automatically upgrade to 2.8. I thought wow, that’s cool. I clicked the button and walla… it worked! But less than a minute later, I realized that it totally killed all the many changes to the default theme. If I would have upgraded manually, like I always have, I would have backed it up properly, but since it was so easy to just click, I didn’t even think about it! I assume there’s no way to retrieve my old theme (if there is, please let me know). I just lost about 8 hours of theme manipulation. Anyway, I’m very disappointed.
