Auto upgrade fails with wp-upgrader fatal error

  • Hello,
    Several versions ago (I guess it was 2.8.3 or 2.8.4) I upgraded my wp installation manually – by overwriting files instead of using autoupgrade. Since that time whenever I try to upgrade to the new version automatically I always get the error message:

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class wp_upgrader in /wp-admin/includes/class-wp-upgrader.php on line 23

    It seems like the wp-upgrader class has been already declared. I can upgrade my wp only by manual files overwriting. What have I do to use autoupgrade again?
