• Hi There,
I tried installing automatic update on my site last night but it failed and the site is now not loading.
    Im getting the following message

    Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving https://www.socialme.ie/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

    Anyone got any advise?

  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Really confused here sorry.
Within the sub folders of wp-content/themes are
    classic/
    default/
    graphene/
    index.php
    twentyeleven/
    twentyten/
I don’t really know which one to change to “-old” and when I right click on any folder it doesn’t give me the option of renaming it anyway.
    Cheers,
    Colm

What was the name of the theme that you were using?

Not even sure of that to be honest. How can I check?

Can you access the wp_options table in your database? Failing that, add -old to every theme folder name except twentyeleven

I really am a dumbass sorry
    Can’t seem to find wp_options.
Given the list I made above is twentyten the only other theme or are classic/
    default/
    graphene/ also themes?
Also how do I add -old. I thought I could right click on the folders and get a rename option but all I get is
Open link in a new tab
Open link in a new window
    Open link incognito window
    Save as link
    Copy as link
    Inspect element

    Can’t seem to find wp_options.

It’s in your database – not in any folder.

Based on the list of theme folders that your posted previously, add -old to every theme folder name except twentyeleven using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
