Hi and thank you in advance for any help.

I was logging into my site’s dashboard just fine (Responsive Theme) until trying to auto update to the latest version (4.4?).

The update process seemed to start but never completed and just stalled, eventually getting a display that said the WP site was temporarily down for maintenance. So I just left to try another day (that was 2-3 days ago).

Now I am unable to log into my dashboard at all, getting the messages:

Warning: require_once(/homepages/11/d115789681/htdocs/2013blogtesttheme/wp-admin/includes/options.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/11/d115789681/htdocs/2013blogtesttheme/wp-admin/includes/admin.php on line 44

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/homepages/11/d115789681/htdocs/2013blogtesttheme/wp-admin/includes/options.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php5.5′) in /homepages/11/d115789681/htdocs/2013blogtesttheme/wp-admin/includes/admin.php on line 44

Any advice to hopefully get me back to work without any major undertakings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
