Does the “Automatically tag contacts who fill out any of these forms” option apply only the tag name shown above this option, or will it always apply the “Subscriber” tag, too?

I have a Contact form on my site where I want to tag these submissions only as “Contact” and not “Subscriber”. For some reason submissions from this form are tagged as both, and the latter syncs them to MailChimp. I’d prefer not to push Contact submissions into MailChimp via this auto-tagging (as Subscriber) feature, and I don’t know how to shut this off.

    Any ideas?

Hmm – it seems like this might be a bug as you’re not the first person to bring a similar issue to light.

Would you be able to create me an administrative login for your WordPress install and email it to [email protected]? I’m hoping that by seeing the behavior in action I can figure out what might be causing the issue.

    Thanks!

Andy, unfortunately, I’m unable to do so, since we’re about to launch an important campaign for the Advent/Christmas season, and I just got everything working with LeadIn today by disconnecting the MailChimp sync and using Zapier to handle this part. (I’m going with the “if it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it” mindset for now).

Please let me know if you want any further details about what settings I’m currently using.

I should also add that you guys created a wonderful plugin! I’m really enjoying the insights it’s providing, and I plan on using it on more sites (hopefully with Premium membership soon).

    Thanks!

I totally understand not being able to give me access and no worries. I’m working with some other folks on getting to the bottom of what’s happening here and hope to know what’s going on soon. I’ll circle back here with what I find and thanks again for reporting the issue.

I’d love to hear about how you’re using Zapier. It’s a feature we’re thinking about building into Leadin at some point so I’d love to learn more about your setup if you don’t mind sharing – [email protected]

Good luck on your campaign launch too!

    Hi Andy,

I appreciate your understanding, and I do wish I could help with tracking down the bug (as a developer myself, I understand how important this is).

Regarding Zapier, our setup is pretty simple. We have a Contact Gravity Form on our site, and when someone chooses to opt in for our newsletter, this gets detected by Zapier and syncs to MailChimp. Our Gravity notifications get sent to a Zapier email address (we have the Gravity Business license – not Developer – which requires us to do it this way), get checked by a filter for the opt-in flag being present, and then a new subscriber gets added to MailChimp.

As for LeadIn’s popup… that gets sent to a different Zap via email, and I have a filter that looks for the phrase “Filled out .vex-dialog-form” in the message body. If present, then the subscriber (using the From Name field in Zapier) gets added to MailChimp.

At this time LeadIn will notifiy Zapier for *every* form submission on our site, even if someone does not opt in on our Contact form. So, the filter described in the previous paragraph only allows LeadIn’s popup opt-ins to get pushed into MailChimp, ignoring all other form submissions. The other Zap (e.g., for our Contact form opt-in) handles those opt-ins.

I hope this is helpful to you and other readers.

    Steve

Greetings! I wanted to follow up with you that we isolated the bug you originally mentioned and fix it for Leadin 2.2.6, which will be launching hopefully today or early tomorrow morning. Thanks again for the reporting the issue and helping us figure out what’s going on. I’ll spare you the boring technical reasons, but it ended up being and issue with forms that had IDs but no classes attached to them.

Thanks so much for the additional thoughts! We really appreciate it and I’ve shown your feedback to the rest of my team (i.e. just my co-creator on Leadin – Nelson – we’re a formidable two-person team ??

I’m going to mark this topic as resolved and if you have any other questions please feel free to email me – [email protected].

    Cheers!
