Auto Subscribe.Possible?

There is no way for new users t be registered to the mailing list, but there is currently a way for commenters to be auto subscribed.

I will look into hooking into the registration page to allow for new users to register. I can see how that would be helpful. At the moment there is no way to allow users to unsubscribe themselves other than the unsubscribe link in the generated email.

Others have askd for such a feature, and we have been looking into a way of implementing an unsubscribe method. I can see it being a security issue in that it would allow anyone to unsubscribe anyone else. There is no way to generate an “Are you sure” email to confirm removal from a given list. If mailchimp had such a feature it would be fairly easy to implement.

That is exactly what I have in mind! That would be perfect.

The idea is just to add an auto-subscribe to MailChimp when a new user register. He will receive the normal confirmation email BUT inside this email, it will be clear that he has been added also to a newsletter AND THAT ALSO he can unsubcribe right away from that very same welcome email!

You’ll usually find me lurking around the forums, so I tend to answer fast ??

I will have a look into adding the auto subscribe for new users. At the moment, the double and single optin emails that are sent to the user let them know what list they are being added to, and if they so choose they just don’t click on the confirm button (which prevents them from ever being added to the list).

Once they are subscribed and receiving emails from you, each email will contain an unsubscribe link (by law). Once clicked they are simply removed from the mailing list.
