    I have Auto-Subscribe set up, but it does not seem to be working. I read one thread from last year that was closed without resolution. I am sure it is something straightforward, but I apologize for not being able to get it functioning.

    Subscribe2 is working for those that use the registration form, not for people the comment.

  • @flyinga,

    Your post isn’t giving me a great deal of information to be able to assist. Please can you describe in steps what you do, what actually happens in Subscribe2 and what you are expecting to happen. That may then allow me to make some suggestions and perhaps resolve your issue.

    Sorry about that @mattyrob, I was bleary eyed at 2 in the morning after tring for hours to get it to work.

    I am speaking only about auto-subscribe as the normal subscribe is working correctly. I have everything set to “YES” under the Auto-Subscribe settings along with “plain text” and “After comments”. Whenever someone leaves a comment it does not subscribe them. I have tested it myself with on of my other email addresses as well. I have the most updated Plugin and WP.

    I am assuming that I should see commenters in my list of Subscribe2 subscribers, just like I see those that use the “subscribe2” button.

    @flyinga,

    A visitor who is not registered with your site but who leaves a comment will be added as a Public Subscriber if the checkbox is ticked when the comment is made. I will test and make sure that part if the code is working later.

    I greatly appreciate your checking, because it is not working when I test it. I also know that most commenters would not uncheck the box as I know them personally since I just started up.

    @flyinga,

    I’ve just tested with WordPress 3.7 and Subscribe2 9.0. It works as I would expect.

    So, a new users posts a comment and you have the settings in WordPress such that the comment is held for moderation. An entry goes into the commentmeta table pending the comment being approved. If it is approved the email address is added as a confirmed Public Subscriber.

    If you have the settings such that there is no moderation, or maybe the user has posted comments before so passes moderation based on history, the email address is added immediately with no pending commentmeta table row being used.

    It might be time for you to start checking for plugin conflicts.

    Yep, of course it was at the bottom of list and thus checked last, but it was my Anti-Captcha plugin. I assume Subscribe2 will not work with any Anti-Captcha style gatekeeper. Correct?

    @flyinga,

    I really don’t know the answer to that, it would depend on how the captcha plugin is implemented to work and whether it passes through all of the submitted data or just what it expects normally from a comment submission. I suspect there might be one that will work but as I hate captcha with a passion I certainly am not using it.

    I hate captcha, thus the Anti-Captcha which worked seamlessly. Thanks a lot of your help in getting my sorted. I am super happy with it.
