• Hi All,

Very happy about the 5.4 thumbnails on posts. But, in practice it’s not working great for my page- the square thumbnails don’t fill up enough space, leaving the page looking empty.

I think the best solution is to have thumbnails take up a percentage of the page, to avoid overlapping on smaller screens etc… If you take a look at what I’ve done, towards the bottom of the first page, it’s pretty clear my attempts haven’t worked. I have also tried to find a plugin to do this (maybe other themes support auto sizing, but I’d prefer not to switch. I could do it though if it made sense in the long run)

    Any tips or plugin suggestions?

    THANK YOU!
    Scott

  • The thumbnail size is set in Settings->Media so you can control the size of thumbnails from there. Though you may have to regenerate the sizes afterwards if you make changes.

Or you could try changing the featured images in the block to use a larger version of the featured image instead of the thumbnail and it may fill out better.

As the featured images function in the latest posts block came out after the release of TwentyTwenty, there wasn’t a way to build it for the future. It might be that in a future update somebody may add some code to handle it.

Can you try this and tell me if it works for you:

@alexvorn2 Looks like that plugin would work, but I have decided to make all my feature images 3:2 aspect ratio. Now, with the WP feature image controls everything looks right.

What I am interested in is how the images could change size based on browser size- to make the pictures a percentage of the browser window width.

Thanks for the help @jarretc, you basically led me to the final solution of doing the 3:2 aspect ratio, which works.
