    Hi there

You’re saying that the setting is not saved when you click “save”? I cannot replicate the issue on my dev site

No, it works fine when I save the auto-purge setting. There is no problem there.

The problem is that, for some unknown reason, Slimstat periodically resets auto-purge to 120. I don’t know why this happens, but it happens from time to time, thus wiping out previous data (because I don’t catch it in time).

I understand. I will look into this, in the meanwhile you could set that value to, say, 9999, which basically does the same thing ??

Okay, I was able to reproduce the issue (it happens when the plugin is deactivated and reactivated). I’m working on a fix.

Thank you for pointing this out,
    Camu

PS: a vote for my plugin would be a nice way to say thank you.

A fix for this issue has been added to version 2.8.7. I’m planning to release it after the holidays, but if you want to test it, contact me and I’ll send you a copy.

Thank you very much. Indeed, I very much like this plugin and will add my name to the list of likes.

I have one more question. Since I don’t use auto-purge, will the quantity of data eventually slow down my website?

If so, how do I keep backup copies of old data without slowing down my site? By the way, I think I have old backups of my website. Is it possible to get Slimstat data from those backup files?

    Thanks again.

    All best,

    Hi Larry,

Let me answer your questions one at a time:

    – given that the database will grow indefinitely, your site might get slightly slower, but usually only if you enabled indexes on Slimstat’s tables. Otherwise writes don’t impact much; on the other side, accessing your stats will definitely take longer over time
    – you can backup all the tables whose name starts with wp_slim; install WordPress with Slimstat somewhere else and “restore” those tables there to access your stats separately. Then just export your tables again and keep adding this data to the secondary install (via phpmyadmin) and you’re good to go
    – check if your old backup includes SlimStat’s tables ??

Hey, a vote for my plugin would be a nice way to say thank you
