After working for a few months the plugin has stopped adding posts to our Facebook page.
The log shows the message: “#######/feed/The access token could not be decrypted” where the hashes are the a long number.
Where do we go from here?

  • Please try to reauthorize the app.
There is a version update of graph API , reauthorization will fix this issue.
If the issue persists ,then remove app from your business integrations at Facebook settings and then re-authorize the app.
    Hope this helps.
Please let us know if the issue persists.
    Thank you.

I am on the latest version of the plugin and have tried reauthorisation but get the message:
Feature unavailable: Facebook Login is currently unavailable for this app.

Can you describe how to “remove app from your business integrations at Facebook settings and then re-authorize the app”.
    Thanks

If you are using your own app then please upgrade api version to v7.0 at Facebook developer settings of your app(under Advanced settings).
If your app is reviewed and approved for the permission publish_pages and manage_pages then the permissions will be automatically migrated to the new permissions as per the new Facebook API changes.also your site must have SSL certificate for connecting to Facebook.

For removing the app from Facebook,go to
    https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=business_tools
From the connected apps ,remove the app you are using in plugin.
If you are using smapsolutions app then remove ‘SMAP Lite’.
If you are using your own app then remove it .
Then try to reauthorize by clicking on the Authorization Button.

If there is any permission issues you can use smapsolutions app free for 1 month.
And submit your app for review, we have updated the documentation for app review in 7.0 version of Facebook Graph API at
    https://help.xyzscripts.com/docs/social-media-auto-publish/faq/how-can-i-create-facebook-application/

    Hope this helps.
    Thank you.

Based on the above post, that means WP2Social is only a trial service app and will stop working after a month. And users are forced to sign up for a paid package.
    Is that correct?

No I don’t think that is true.

However, I have still not got Facebook to approve the standard App. They say they need Admin access to our WordPress site. I said that broke GDPR – they would not comment on GDPR except to say that was the rule.
I asked whether I could have Admin rights to Facebook…

We have decided to make yet another move away from use of Facebook, moving more functionality to our own site.

@usacoder User’s of WP2Social media auto publish can use their own app or smapsolution’s app. A free trial for 30 days is provided for smap app after that if you are unable to verify your own app then you can purchase the premium package otherwise you can submit the app for Facebook review(which often takes only 2–3 days but may take up to 30 days during peak periods, you can use smapsolution’s free trial for auto posting during this time).

@bobjgarrett For app approval you should provide admin access to Facebook. You can create a user with permission to access the plugin settings and posts so that they can test the work flow. After the review process is completed you can remove the user from your site.
This is required for Facebook review :https://developers.facebook.com/docs/apps/review/common-rejection-reasons

    Hope this helps.
    Thank You.

Is it possible to create a user with rights to access the plugin settings etc. but not have access to the user database?
If not then Facebook are asking too much, and did not ask for this when we got approval a few months ago.

Yes it’s possible to give a temporary limited admin access ,you can use plugins like Controlled Admin Access for this.
If you have an app with approval from Facebook then you can use it for WP2Social Auto Publish also. If the app has publish_pages and manage_pages permission (for old app using API version up to v6.0) or pages_read_engagement,pages_manage_posts(apo using api version v7.0)then you can use it with WP2Social Auto Publish otherwise submit it for review of the permissions pages_read_engagement and pages_manage_posts.
    Thank You.
