• Hi

Is it at all possible for WP to create new posts, by downloading text files from a local folder in my HD drive, and make them into posts in my blog?

I want to create posts that contain song lyrics. I have a tool that automatically saves these lyrics to a local folder. If there is a WP plugin to create posts out of these saved files, it would be great.

    Is there such plugin please?

    Many thanks in advance.

  • this one sounds like a good idea

This sounds something like what the backend of the post-by-email process does. Instead of reading the mailbox, you would read a file. You would then parse the file in order to create a post. Sounds simple, but probably isn’t. I’ll take a look at this some time later today.

How are the text files formatted? What would go in the post title? What category? This is not as simple as you think.

I can think of ‘edit *’ as a way of opening all the files in text editors and then copying and pasting in ‘batch mode’. By the way, unless these are your lyrics, does the World Wide Web truly need yet more lyrics mirrors, even with the same typos repeated? This is verging what is known as content spam or an attempt at googleeating.
