Love the idea of the plugin, but auto linking (the reason I got it) doesn’t seem to work very well for my purposes.

First, and seemingly intentionally, all my auto links are all lower case (just like the tag names). Not a fan of this, a feature to not adjust the case of the links would be preferred. I like my links all lower case to seem…taggy, but the actual text I would prefer untouched.

Second, the feature to only link the first X instances of a tag doesn’t seem to work at all. I left it at 1 (the default), and it links every single use of the term.

Third, though I don’t see an option for this, I would prefer not to link to a tag that is already applied to the current article. This pretty much always results in links in the first few words, possibly missing out on SEO (usually a page is trying to rank for the tags it has), and also due to issue 2, since a tag used is often repeated in the body text, this results in LOTS of the same thing being auto linked since it’s a frequent term in the body text.

You can see all these issues present at, look for the words “axiom verge” tagged many times throughout the doc: https://sirtaptap.com/guides/axiom-verge-guide/

Thanks for the detailed feedback @sirtaptap

    1. I do see that on a default installation. Does it help if you uncheck the setting called “Ignore case for auto link feature?”

    2. I can’t see that in our testing, but do see it on your site. Does it help if you change the setting or disable any other Tags-related plugins.

    3. Thanks for the feature request. That sounds very useful.

1: That removes the case-changing, but then it doesn’t link the text if it doesn’t match. Most of my tags are game titles, so in text they’re usually Title Case but the tags are lowercase. Ideally, I’d like Axiom Verge to be linked to the lower case tag “axiom verge”, but have the case of the original text left alone

    2. Hmm odd, Yoast SEO is the only plugin I have that directly affects tags I believe and disabling it didn’t change it. Disabling the rest and changing themes didn’t do it either so don’t know what else to try. Unsure if related, but the extra duplicate tags will gladly go past the 10 link limit too (but the limit appears to work for unique tags)

Oh and while I’m recommending–it’d be neat to be able to exclude links in certain classes/HTML Tags. I did notice it looks a little odd having a link in an H2

    Thanks @sirtaptap

We’ve turned all the key items here into feature requests.

Can you see the tag limit problem if you use a blank test site?

I believe this is fixed: https://github.com/TaxoPress/taxopress/issues/176

Please follow up after the 3.0.1 release if that doesn’t solve it.
