Auto generate password wont send e-mail to user

  • Hi, if i press the blue button to auto generate and send new random password to a user, only mail with information, that the password changed is mailed. But the mail with changed password is not sent.

    Do anybody know, how to fix this issue?

  • WordPress doesn’t email passwords anymore because it’s highly insecure. See the release notes for 4.3, when the change was made:

    Resetting Your Password received attention and 4.3 improves the way that passwords are chosen and changed. You start out with a strong password by default and you are given the option to keep it or choose your own. A password strength meter is available as well as the option to hide your password from prying eyes. You will find the new password interface on the password reset screen and the WordPress install screen. WordPress will no longer send passwords via email and the password reset links will expire in 24 hours. Finally, e-mail notifications will be sent out in the event that an e-mail or password is changed.

    OK, but i would expect at least e-mail with password reset link like it is the case in lost password recovery (wp-login.php?action=lostpassword). Does it mean, that since WP 4.3, users do not get password recovery link by mail when auto generate button used?
