Auto-fill lots of questions marks in the description when upload an image

    Create a new post, add an image block, drap an image from Windows file explorer into this block, the description field will be filled lots of ?????? (more than 100), this happened from version v6.8 and not fixed in v6.9.

    Tried to search the forum, but can’t find any related discussion yet, this should be a big issue, but why there is no one reported ?

    Thank you for reporting this issue.

    Gutenberg tries to use image EXIF data (data encoded in the binary file) on the description. It seems in this case the mechanism is not working as expected. Maybe the image file you used has damaged EXIF data? Does it happen with every image you try (even a random one downloaded from the internet?

    You reminded me to check the image EXIF data, and I found every image descripion is filled with lots of “garbage characters”, I shot those pictures by my cell phone, I’ve used the phone to take pictures and upload to wordpress for several months without problem, this just happened since the phone firmware has been updated recently.
