Auto fetch youtube featured image

Hey! I get a lot of posts that don’t get any featured image since they mostly just contain youtube videos, i found a plugin that can save the thumbnail from youtube and set it as a featured image for a post but it only triggers on manual save/edit of a post, is there any way I can make so advanced filters can call this function or perhaps incorporate the function?
