Auto-excerpt not passed on

  • There’s an odd thing that’s happening, I am writing to you cause I read that the way the excerpt gets handled may be different according to the theme used.
    I run the latest WP install and the latest Astrid theme. When I try to post my wp blog posts to social media (via a zapier or pabbly connect integration) the excerpt field remains EMPTY! But if I put a manual excerpt in the manual excerpt field, it gets populated.
    Any idea how to fix this quickly?

    As far as I know, social network services will look for the meta description from the shared post/page to be displayed as text preview.

    I can confirm that Astrid theme doesn’t add any meta description by default.

    If you got the excerpt shown on social network, perhaps there is an additional plugin/script that does so for you. But, if, it was unintentional, I’d recommend checking a SEO plugin like Yoast SEO, that will help you manage the post’s meta description easier.
