    Hi, how are you?
    I hope you are well ?? ??

I set to delete spam after 7 days. Today is the first of November and I can see spam messages since the day 25 of October. Those messages should be not already deleted? I have the doubt messages are not deleted?

The settings to delete messages after xx days affect all present message or just messages since the moment the settings is setup? If doesn’t affect all message will be maybe nice insert a field in the messages that show when the message will be auto deleted.. in any case I think I set auto deletion of messages after 7 days before the 25 october.

I will maybe try to set less days.. in 10 days I got 353 messages ^_^

I set now to delete after 3 days and seems old message are kept… so will be useful maybe show in messages when an auto delete is schedule or not. I’m now deleting manually all messages and will monitor if message get deleted after 3 days but from what I see I have the doubt the auto deletion is not working for me.

Hi @matthiasnordwig, hope you are well!
I set the Automatic Spam Deletion Interval to 3 days. Once I set this I deleted manually all spam comments. Now we are at 06(day)-11-2023 and I still have spam comments of the day 2 and 3 of this mounth.

Seems the auto deletion is not working in my case. Spam comment of the two november should be still present on my install, and it is.

If I don’t find a way to make the auto deletion work I need disable again message storage.

Maybe I need wait more days and see… ignore this mine message update. Maybe deletion is working but message from 2 november will be deleted tomorrow 7 november. I will monitor.

    Hi.

I am sorry for that and I will overwork this for the next release.

Did you disable your WP-Cron? In the wp-config it would look like this:

    define (‘DISABLE_WP_CRON’, true);

This is a recommendation from WordPress and I did so too, as it slows down website performance. But if you do so, you still need to run wp-cron.php i.e. by a real cron-job. Do you still do that? As the auto-deletion and probably many other frequent functions from other plugins are linked to this cron-function.

Additionally: I added the IP-logging function with a respective hint, that using this doesn’t comply to European GDPR.

    Cheers, Matthias

Hi Matthias, I have the default WordPress cron active, never disabled anything in WordPress. I have also plugin auto update active.
Maybe today I checked and found comments from 2 November and throught the auto deletion is not working. I set 3 days so maybe today is 6… I may need wait more days to see it deleted. I will monitor, thanks ??

Take care and have a nice time ??
