Hi,

I used the MLF plugin to sort our client’s media to folders for a project, which worked great, but now the incorrect URL file paths are showing up in the Yoast-generated sitemap and causing errors.

Example:
The location of the media file is https://www.portlogisticsgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/press/plg-expands-to-first-midwest-2019.pdf
where “press” is the folder I created in MLF.

The sitemap is registering this file as:
https://www.portlogisticsgroup.com/press_release/plg-expands-to-first-midwest-2019/plg-expands-to-first-midwest-2019.pdf/

It is creating an extra folder named after the post that it is attached to. How do I stop the plugin from creating this file path (which is empty) and get my sitemap to generate based on the correct URL?

You would have to ask the Yoast SEO support people since it is their code that generates the sitemap. We only add the image to the media library.

I don’t our code is generating the extra URL.

Yoast support says:

“This error appears when something on your site is modifying URLs after the sitemap is generated. This is virtually impossible for us to locate or fix as it’s not something controlled by our plugin.”

Are you sure that the URLs are not being changed? I can’t figure out where else this would be happening since the files were added using the MLF plugin.

Yes, it could be something at your site, besides Media Library Folders. Understand that if MLF is not adding image data correctly into the media library database, then the media library could not display or link to any images.

Yoast Support says something on your site is modifying URLs so it is not likely that Media Library Folders is causing this issue.
