I set up my self hosted piwik stats and added my first site, all was good.

Then I set up a second, I did not look to see what Auto Config did and just left the box ticked, once the site had been set up with using the WP-Piwik plugin I was surprised to see it on my Piwik Stats page.

My first thought was that is really good, untill I found that it was posting the data to the first site, not the one that it had set up.

Not sure how that happened, is that a bug?

NDR but I did not like to see it, when I unchecked the auto config box it allowed me to select the site I wished to use.

This allows anybody who has admin to see what other sites I have using the Piwik stats and to change it.

    Thanks for a great plugin.

It may be a bug… but this depends on your settings. Are both sites using the same domain? Please compare how the pages are configured within Piwik.

You also can run the test script (see Settings -> WP-Piwik -> Support) to get further details. Of course, you can also post the results here, so I can have a look at them.

Of course, every WordPress admin is able to see your other sites created in Piwik if you are using a Piwik admin auth token to connect to Piwik. Even if WP-Piwik won’t show the sites there, everybody who gets your auth token is able to access (and also to manage) your Piwik instance.

You have two choices to avoid this:

    1. Only use a site specific auth token to connect to Piwik (i.e., create a user who is only allowed to access your blog and use this auth token).

    2. Don’t give the WordPress admin role to other users. Instead, choose a meaningful role or create a specific role for such users, so they can manage your blog without getting access to configuration details of your plugins.

The problem I had, both sites were on different domains.

I have not tried it again yet but will let you know if I have further problems.

Thanks for the info on the admin, I will look at doing what you suggested.
