Auto-approving commenters by email

Hi,

My current comment policy is to moderate all comments. However, there are a few users whose comments I’d like to auto-approve. Is there any way to create a whitelist of email addresses whose comments are auto-approved, or any plugin extending commenting capabilities in this way? I found a couple of old (dead) threads to this effect, but nothing formative.
