• I was wondering if the community could help me solve a problem I’m having when pasting text into WordPress.

For some reason, when pasting a list of references/publications from a Word document to the WordPress visual editor, the first initial of each author is never copied. For instance:

    1. D. Garcon

    is copied instead as

    1. Garcon

Does anyone know what can be done to fix this? The document I want to copy contains a large number of publications, so going through one-by-one would be a long process.

Plus, I want whoever uses the site in the future to be able to paste a document from Word without worrying about formatting inconsistencies. In other words, usability is important here.

    Examples of the problem:

    In Word

    Pasted into WordPress

Thank you all for your help.

Can you try deactivating all of your plugins to explore whether any could be responsible?

    Hi all,

I have the same issue. If you copy this line of text (the full line) :
    a. bcd

from word to wordpress, you get this in the visual editor :

    1. bcd

Disabling all plugins did not change the result.

Yes, I am still having this problem after disabling all plugins. Is there a specific plugin or workaround that could fix this problem? I have searched with little to no luck.

    Thank you
