author.php page problems

Hi there,
I have created an author.php page and added it to my theme. I have associated it to a ‘new page’ and all is fine.
But when I click on the author link from my sidebar it goes to the author page and shows the authors name in my heading but everything elso shows as zero.

IWhat I am trying to do is show whats already there but also show the header of each authors post with a little text from the post.
Can that be done?
