• Hi,

I have a link to an author page (author.php) on my website. The author page is called using the_author_posts_link(). The link to the author page works fine when the permalink settings are on the Default option. However, when I attempt to use a custom structure (e.g. /%postname%/) the link no longer directs a user to the author page, but instead it provides a list of all posts written by the author.

Any help to resolve this would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,
    tkm

Ok I take it that nobody really knows what I’m talking about. As a workaround does anyboyd know how to link to an author page (i.e. a bio and picutre etc) without using the the_author_posts_link() function? Is there a bit of php code??

    Please help!!

Resolved! With a lot of digging around my website, I’ve finally managed to make this work. Turns out that the guys who had built my website initially, weren’t linking to an author page as specified by WordPress but instead built a custom page called authors.php and that was situated in the home directory. Annoying.

So when I switched to permalinks it was looking for an author.php in the themes folder. I created an author.php page correctly and placed it in the themes folder and voila! Check it out at https://www.freelancestudents.co.uk.

    Cheers,
