Authorize.net Not Recording Invoice Numbers

I am using Woo Commerce and I see that Authorize.net is not recording invoice numbers for orders placed. I see in ANet documentation that no symbols are allowed in invoice numbers. It appears that WC puts a “#” in front of the invoice number – is this the problem? If so, I do not see a way to change that configuration in the WC settings.
Any help would be most appreciated!
